Kath Hammond

We are proud to share the news that Kath Hammond, a second year PhD student in Professor Mike Murphy's research group, was awarded a prize for the "best short talk" at the recent Wellcome Connecting Science: Mitochondrial medicine - Therapeutic development conference.

Kath's presentation focused on the active/deactive transition of mitochondrial complex I in the ischaemic murine heart.

Kath's attendance at the conference was supported by a Wellcome bursary and this was the 9th meeting in the Wellcome Trust's series on mitochondrial disease and the search for novel, effective therapies.

The conference aims to bring clinicians, laboratory scientists and the life science industry together to promote connections. Kath has found this opportunity very beneficial and is grateful to all those who have made her attendance possible.

Congratulations Kath!
