MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit

 

The MBU welcomes applications from undergraduates wishing to visit the Unit for a short period of time.  The duration of these visits is usually between two weeks and six months, however, we have occasionally hosted visiting undergraduates for longer periods.

Part II and III Biochemistry students at the University of Cambridge

The MBU offers placements to Part II and Part III Biochemistry students at the University of Cambridge, particularly those who are considering applying for PhD places in the future.

Internships

The MBU offers paid short-term internships, paid at £8.21 per hour. These internships are open to the following applicants:

Erasmus Programme (European Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students)

This is an EU exchange programme - if you are interested, please contact the Erasmus Coordinator at your home institution.  The Coordinator is required to submit nominations to the University, by given deadlines, before you can apply.  Further details can be found here: www.ist.admin.cam.ac.uk/erasmus-plus/incoming-students

UK and EU nationals
Overseas students who are in full-time education at a UK university and have a valid student visa that spans the duration of the internship, and allows this type of work.

Amgen Scholars Programme in Cambridge

The Amgen Scholars Programme is open to undergraduate students who are enrolled in colleges or universities in Europe and who have not entered the final year of their bachelor's or first degree (or its equivalent) before participating in the programme. The deadline for applications is in February eadh year. Amgen Scholars will be required to be resident in Cambridge from mid-July until mid-September and will receive a stipend to cover llving costs.  Further details can be found here: https://amgenscholars.com/university/university-of-cambridge-uk/

The MBU welcomes applications for short-term visits from undergraduate students who have secured their own funding.

Work Experience for Secondary School Students

The MBU runs occasional work experience programmes for secondary school (post-16) STEM students. Please send enquiries to Penny Peck (see above).
