Congratulations to Lucia Luengo Gutierrez, who has been selected for an award from the Cambridge Society for the Application of Resarch (CSAR).
The CSAR PhD Student Awards of £1,000 each, are intended to recognise outstanding research with real world application and to assist students to pursue their research or careers. The awards are open to students in any discipline at the University of Cambridge, currently studying for their Ph.D. at the deadline for application. Selection of applicants will be at the discretion of the CSAR PhD Student Awards Committee.
On 30 June, Lucia's award was presented by Dr. Diarmuid O'Brien, the University of Cambridge Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Innovation.
Lucia is a member of Professor Michal Minczuk's research group. Her PhD project focuses on generating precise models of mitochondrial DNA disease and developing curative gene therapies with translational potential.
