MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit

The Unit values and promotes equality, diversity and inclusion, and fully supports the MRC’s commitment to it, as laid out in its Equality and Diversity Vision and Action Plan in 2014. After joining the University in 2017, and adopting the Athena SWAN action plan of the School of Clinical Medicine, we have taken a far more proactive stance and begun to actively develop our leadership in equality, diversity and inclusion.

We fully support the University’s Race Equality Charter, Athena Swan action plan, and its statements and policy on preventing harassment and sexual misconduct. We firmly believe that an inclusive, supportive and diverse working environment is essential, not only to promote excellence and integrity in research, but also to train a future generation of outstanding and open-minded scientists.

The MBU’s Wellbeing, Inclusion, Diversity and Equality (MBU WIDE) Committee represents all staff groups across the Unit, and the MBU’s various Equality, Positive Culture and Wellbeing Champions at the School of Clinical Medicine.

We are keen to receive feedback and suggestions on these pages and our activities. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with the MBU WIDE Committee, by sending us an email, or talk to us in the corridor.
