On Thursday, 27 February the MRC hosted a visit by secondary students from Jersey. Martin King gave his "Biology Master Class' and held discussions aimed at bridging the gap between A levels and university; John Walker gave an explanation of ATP synthase and the Lego model and the students visited Alex Whitworth's laboratory to hear about, and see, how the fruit fly - Drosophila melanogaster - is used in his group's research studies into neurodegenerative diseases.
Members of the MBU hosted a "meet the scientists" session, which included further discussion, mitochondrial games and lunch.
